“Pros want us to be a convenience store,” said J.T. Rieves, Home Depot vice president for Pro. “This time, we took what the pros want.”

What they want, Rieves said, is to spend as little time as possible at Home Depot.

“Everything is about getting you in and out fast,” he said.

Professional customers, such as contractors and builders, make up 30 percent of Home Depot’s business, but are just 3 percent of the shoppers who come through the door. While a typical shopper goes to Home Depot four times a year, pros are there five times a month.

Children’s Hospital gets IDOT green light for heliport

The Illinois Department of Transportation’s Division of Aeronautics announced late Friday afternoon its approval of the hospital’s 2008 application. The decision follows an extensive technical analysis and a six-day public hearing.

“After a comprehensive review, I am confident that the application submitted by Ann & Robert H. Lurie’s Children’s Hospital meets or exceeds all legal and safety requirements needed for a certificate of approval from the state of Illinois,” IDOT Director of Aviation Susan Shea said in a news release. “I want to thank the public for its contributions and comments during this thorough and exhaustive process.”

The heliport proposal has already received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration and the city of Chicago.

The hospital, a replacement of Children’s Memorial Hospital in Lincoln Park, is slated to open next year. Childre

Accenture Q4 beats; forecasts strong 2012 (Reuters)

The company also increased its semi-annual cash dividend 50 percent, to 67.5 cents per share, and approved 5 billion of additional share repurchase authority.

Grand Canal Harbour, Ireland-based Accenture expects full-year earnings of 3.80-3.88 per share, above analysts’ average expectation of 3.76 per share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Fourth-quarter net income was 91 cents per share, ahead of analysts expectations of 88 cents a share.

Revenue rose 23 percent to 6.7 billion, beating Wall Street’s view of 6.5 billion.

Business Unity SA briefs Zuma on BBC

Business Unity SA (Busa) on Tuesday gave President Jacob Zuma its “own perspective” on the newly established Black Business Council (BBC).

“President Zuma appreciated the briefing as he had not had an opportunity yet to meet Busa to discuss the matter,” the presidency said in a statement.

The BBC was established earlier this month.

On Thursday, its steering committee chairperson, Patrice Motsepe, told media that the BBC was not formed to fight Busa.

It aimed “to bring together the complaints and frustrations of blacks so that within Busa they can become … a successful voice and make sure problems unique to black business and professionals are addressed in a meaningful sense,” he said.

At the meeting with the Busa leadership, including president Futhi Mtoba, Zuma told them that unity was important.
